The automotive alternator and HVAC components are often among the top five product reliability issues cited for both construction equipment and on-highway trucks.The newly developed MorElectric HVAC module system combines all the HVAC components into a new module that uses an electrically powered, hermetically sealed compressor. "Packaging all the components together," Orr said, "also allows the use of rigid refrigerant tubing, and eliminates refrigerant permeation through the hoses. We expect to achieve a 5x improvement in reliability and a 3x improvement in durability over current air conditioning systems as used in trucks and construction equipment today." The HVAC module removes the condenser from the radiator area of the engine compartment, providing more physical space, as well as eliminating the air conditioning thermal load from the radiator air stream. Cat estimates its new modular HVAC also eliminates as many as 65 parts. Field service thus becomes a simple replacement function. The module can be swapped out in less than an hour, allowing customers to quickly get back up and running, and returned to revenue service. Producers can now take advantage of more time-saving options for seeding wheat, sorghum, and soybeans through the introduction of the 70-bushel single-tank Central Commodity System (CCS) no-till air drill with new working widths.The 1690CCS is available in 30-foot and 35-foot models, and the 1890 CCS offers producers 30-foot and 36-foot seeding options. For the 1690CCS and 1890CCS models, the 70-bushel single-compartment hopper is matched to the new smaller working widths, giving customers the ability to seed large acres while carrying all the seed on the air-drill mainframe. Though light in weight, Airbor magnetic drill has a powerful 1.6-hp air motor and 1,600-lb magnetic holding strength. With its extra rack, stroke length is extended to 10 1/4 in. Annular cutter capacity is up to 2 1/16 in. diam. Geared chuck adapter converts the unit to a standard drill press. The Slugger Air Force pneumatic drill, at 24 lbs, 6 1/4" high, is useful for confined area drilling. The drill''s features include a permanent magnet that turns on or off by air power, a cutter capacity of up to 1 1/16" diameter x 3/4" depth and the ability to use ShortSlugger cutters and frame cutters. These cutters'' geometry allows the operator to drill multi-layered truck frames in a single pass.
